The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and Genser Energy have successfully built a 110-km natural gas pipeline that will provide gas to the 250-MW Kumasi 1 Thermal Power Plant (K1TPP) and other pending plants, marking a huge achievement in the nation’s power sector.

The Anwomaso Gas Pipeline, built with some 12,000 steel pipes imported from the US, is part of a total of 420km network that traverses across key regions in a bid to enhance Ghana’s power sector and provide affordable energy to support regional industries.

The 110-km natural gas pipeline stretches from Prestea to Anwomaso and was commissioned on Wednesday (April 17, 2024) in Anwomaso in the Ashanti Region of Ghana by His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.

Genser Energy Ghana Limited which spearheaded the pipeline project is a Ghanaian-owned independent power producer.
